Welcome to MS Research
We are a charity dedicated to furthering understanding of multiple sclerosis (MS).
What is Multiple Sclerosis?
MS is an auto-immune condition affecting the brain and the spinal cord. The myelin sheath that protects nerve fibres becomes damaged, causing a range of symptoms and varying levels of lifelong disability.
In the UK, about 150,000 people live with MS. It is one of the most common causes of disability affecting young people.
What is our role?
Our main role is in supporting the scientific community to learn more about how MS works, to develop better treatments, and – one day – hopefully find a cure.
We fund cutting-edge multiple sclerosis research projects and educational bursaries for MS professionals. We also work to alleviate some of the symptoms of MS, providing treatment courses from our Bristol offices and raising awareness of issues relating to the condition.
