Our Research Grants

We provide grants to research and healthcare professionals for studies that improve:

  • knowledge and understanding of MS
  • treatment and care for people living with MS.

Scope

Our research remit ranges from laborotary research to software development. Research topics may be observational, clinical or academic/laboratory, or a mixture of any of these. We also welcome studies that further the career development of an existing or past grant-holder or research team member.

We fund whole projects or elements of larger projects, so long as they fit our eligibility criteria.

NIHR STUDY SUPPORT SERVICE

We are an NIHR non-commercial partner. So studies we fund may be eligible for the NIHR Study Support Service. This offes a range of support to help you plan, place and perform research in an NHS, public health or social care setting, such as a care home or school.

To fully benefit from the service, involve your local NIHR Clinical Research Network team in discussions as early as possible during the planning phase.

See Eligibility Criteria for NIHR Clinical Research Network Support.

NHS approval

If a proposed study involves NHS sites in England, you will need approval from the Health Research Authority. For guidance see What approvals and decisions do I need? on the NHS Health Research Authority website. Your local research support team should also be able to assist with applications.
